OK, I finally got to see it from PBS.
The original show was on Broadway for a quite limited time last year. Tickets were soon sold out, which left me with zer0 hope to think about a discounted seat....Yet, by then, I was mostly hoping to take a close breathe to our beloved Jennifer Garner.
Yet she turned out almost a complete disaster....How she managed to shine in screen? Does she know acting at all? And....her voice is really repelling.
A really good surprise came from my recently noticed Kevin Kline. He played the famous swordsman yet all his charms exploded when he was a poet and a lover.
Cyrano first came to our knowledge via its renowned French film. I had to rely on Chinese subtitles. This American production is arguably bringing out the essence of the original story and would be perfect, if the heroine could be as half fulfilling as our hero. After all, Cyrano did it all for Roxane. It is a bit lame when audience were stunned by Kevin's performance and yet puzzled at the same time by the question: what on earth he'd see in her. 這篇影評有劇透
