劇情簡介：FrankLloydWrightisoneofAmerica'sgreatestarchitects.However,fewpeopleknowhowhisWelshheritageinfluencedhislifeandworld-renownedbuildings.Now,leadingWelsharchitectJonathanAdamsembarksonajourneyacrossAmericatopersonallyexplorethemasterpiecesofFrankLloydWright.Intheprocess,herevealstheepiclifestorybehindthemanandtheimportanceofhisfamilybackground.Overacareerspanningseventyyears,FrankLloydWrightbuiltover500structuresthatchangedthefaceofmodernarchitecture:theFallingwaterHouse,hailedasthegreatesthouseofthe20thcentury;theiconicspiralGuggenheimMuseuminNewYorkredefinedartmuseums;andtheUnityTemple,theworld'sfirsttrulymodernbuildingmadeofconcrete.ButasimportantasthebuildingsthemselvesaretheunderlyingprinciplesthatconnectallofWright'sarchitectureandanythinghebuilt.TheseprinciplesarerootedinareligiousbeliefcalledUnitarianism,heldbyFrankLloydWright'smother.AnnaLloydJoneswasbornandraisednearLlandoveryinWestWalesandimmigratedtoAmericawithherfamilyin1844,likelytoescapereligiouspersecution.HersonFrankgrewupinaUnitariancommunityinWisconsin,asmallWelshAmerica.There,heabsorbedvaluesbasedonthesacrednessofnature,theimportanceofhardwork,andtheneedtoquestionandrebelagainsttradition.Wright'sarchitecturewasinfluencedbyandexpressedthesebeliefs.FrankLloydWrightsetouttocreateanewAmericanarchitectureforanewnation.HebuilthislifelonghomeinthevalleywherehegrewupandnameditTaliesin,afteranancientWelshbard.Manyadventuresandahorrificcrimetookplacehere.In1914,atTaliesin,aservantwentonarampageandmurderedsevenpeople,includingWright'spartner,MamahCheney,andhertwoyoungchildren.Wrightrebuilthishomeandmarriedawoman30yearshisjunior,OlgivannaMilanoff.ItwasOlgivannawhocameupwiththeideatosaveherhusband'scareerafteritplummetedduetotheWallStreetcrashandpersonalscandals.Shedecidedtohaveherhusbandtakeonapprenticesandhavetheapprenticespayforit.TheTaliesinFellowshipwasborn,andapprenticesoftenbuiltadditionstoWright'shouses,labored,andcookedforhim.Somehow,thisworked,lastingfordecadesandnurturinghundredsofyoungtalents.FrankLloydWrightdiedin1959attheageof91whileworkingonhisfinalmasterpiece,theincomparableGuggenheimMuseuminNewYork.HewasbornaftertheAmericanCivilWar,thesonofapioneer,anddepartedasatelevisionpersonalityinthespaceage.HewasburiedintheshadowofTaliesin,alongsidehisWelshancestors.150yearslater,JonathanAdamsbelievesthatFrankLloydWrightisacrucialfigurewhocanteachushowtobuildabetterworld.Wrightbelievedinwhathecalledorganicarchitecture;buildingsshouldblendwiththeenvironment,expresstheidealsofawayoflife,andmeetindividualneeds.Thiscustomizedapproach—aphilosophyratherthanastyle—placedhimattheheartofmodernarchitecturalthinking.
